We've arrived

We have arrived at Brooks KY, just outside of Fort Knox. We had a pleasant drive and are ready to relax and rest. We start orientation tomorrow at 10:00 Am and can hardly wait to see Chad. Thanks for praying and I will be sure to add some pics tomorrow.

Pork Chops and Chores

Today we are preparing to go to fort Knox. We took the small van to the Garage for some repairs while we are gone, went to the grocery store, did clothes and make sure everything is squared away before we leave. Tonight TC is fixing pork chops and taters. Yummy!!! Oh yea, we did a fire drill as well along with all the daily budgeting things and the Kids Data System(which was created by the Devil) All for now I have to supervise chores!

Fantastic Thoughts

Our Front Porch

What is see. nice and quiet!
Sunday morning and our day is starting. Of course today is church and the boys love Foothills Community Church so we always go there on Sunday. It's very unusual church to say the least but they do rock. I like to rock but sometimes it's almost too much but any church has things that may not appeal to you. Anyway, we have no plans just resting up for our big journey to Fort Knox on Tuesday. Once boy has a visit from his Mom and sister today around 2:00 so I am happy for him. This job is absolutely unreal as at times it is almost too difficult but the rewards out weigh any problems that might come. It's very quiet and I have enjoyed my morning coffee on the front porch while it has rained slightly this morning. No more to say, enjoy your Sunday.

Today we decided to have a picnic up at Issaquena Falls. The weather was perfect and here is something that was really cool. After deciding to go a call came in that a large family wanted to donate their leftovers from a large picnic from Subway. I mean there were 4 trays of sandwiches with all the fixings. God is so Great. Be sure to check out the video at the bottom. I think TC is always twisting her hair. She says it is a stress reliever for being with me. Ha! The other guy with us is BK, Collins oldest resident. He came here 20 something years ago and helps wherever he can. A Great Day!!!

Visiting and Chilling

Well all the boys are gone except two so this weekend appears to have the making of a very relaxing one. Christie and TC has some Mother/Daughter times last night and went shopping for new dresses and stuff for Chad's Graduation. They are excited about dressing up. It was nice having them over last night and so they will leave some time today. David has Final exams today at noon. For us I think we will be planning a picnic up by the great place TC and I found the other day. Other than that we have no plans just chilling as we have the chance.

Fun Fun Fun

Little B is one of our youngest boys who is followed by "D" who just can't figure little B out sometimes. Nobody can. TC had just picked them up from school so their energy level is extremely high. Enjoy the video.

The Weekend is in View

Wow, the end of a week already. I've got to tell you that I am so glad that several of the are going home today for the weekend. Man, some of them was getting on my last nerve this morning. I guess I can always take another pill and lie down. Anyway, this weekend looks like it is gong to be very relaxing. David and Christie is coming tonight and spending the night. Today we are gong to cut grass, wash clothes and oh yea wash some bed clothes as our bed wetter hit again last night. I swear every time I say that it has been a week and how proud we are he pees again. I not going to tell him anymore. Well, guess that's about it for now.

Boy, I didn't even remember that I had this. I think this was the first video we did on the camera and of course I just saw it and it has Chad in it. Ha Ha. I need to do more with some video, as I think that would be better. I guess we will see.

Ouch, that's a lot of money

Our day was filled excitement. First after taking the blazer to get tuned up (271.00) it was taken to another shop to fix the A/C. Can you say ouch? Yes, $700.00 to replace the compressor. Oh well, it's just money and we are blessed to have it when we need it. Then TC and i went to develop some pics and shopping at Walmart of course. After arriving home TC did clothes and I sprayed some more Fire Ants and fired up the chain saw to cut some logs for the recycling crew. The first night back is always interesting for some of them that goes home on the weekend so by 9:00 PM all was quiet an peaceful. A good day!, except for the A/C. Reservation's are made and we leave to see Chad next Tuesday, one week. I can't believe it.

Things that make me smile

  1. Seeing boys get along and have fun
  2. Being with the Love of my life, TC
  3. Seeing my wife's face when I do something funny or interesting, or aggravating.
  4. Camping
  5. Camping
  6. Sitting by a campfire
  7. Eating outside
  8. Camping
  9. Fellowship with other Believers
  10. The truth found in the Word

There are so many more but these are some of the things that make me smile. I am currently reading John Eldredge's, "EPIC" and I realize that my life is a story that is being written each day. This was just what was on my mind this morning, God bless

What a View!

TC and I had a few hours today so we rode up toward Clayton GA and a top of Black Rock Park. Pretty awesome view. I believe Sarge Charlie lives over in them there mountains somewhere.

Time Flies and Birthdays

Birthday time.
Yes, he likes snakes and transformers.
Yes, he likes Star Wars
Jared and Brandon both are private placements so we can show their faces. Jared turned 13 and Brandoon turned 8. Woohoo!!!
This is the boss and might I say he is probably the best boss one could have. He is hiding so we cannot see him eating cake. His wife would kill him.
This week has flew by. I cannot believe that it is Friday already. Things are good indeed. Today we are going to chill as yesterday I worked in the yard all day cutting grass, spraying grass killer and spreading ant killer. We have thousands of fire ants so hopefully the stuff will work. TC and I are gong to ride up the mountains in a few minutes and chill a little. Today several boys go home and we have several things planned for the weekend.

Homesick and Birthdays

Well it stands to reason that if a kid wants to go home and he gets to go for a 10 day visit that he might have a few problems when he returns. Little B just cannot go to sleep. He has medicine that helps him calm down a little but he just whined and carried on until I had to remove him from his room so his room mate could go to sleep. I moved out to the living room on the couch and within a few minutes he was asleep. Yesterday was one of those days that are just emotionally draining. This morning we have our bi-weekly meeting with some good friends and discuss our marriages. It has been a help to discuss relationships and roles. It's also been very helpful to both TC and I.
We also have two birthdays this week. We have a lady who makes and decorates the cakes and also provides balloons. This is a great deal she does for he home. We have already got their birthday gifts so it's just down to planning the big party Thursday for both of them. All for now...

My Favorite Mug

Lois asked about your favorite mug, so here it is plain and white. This is my Collins mug as my home mug is my Grand Canyon Mug and the other one is my Amish mug that I no longer use because it was a gift from my Mother. There you go!

The above pic is my favorite friend while I drink my coffee!

Taxes and Tinkering

Awesome, the security guy came and fixed out fire and security system so that's over. I feel that I have a big relief and that is that i took those darn taxes (along with the payment) and mailed them yesterday. The bad thing about being self employed or and we were last year a contractor is that we pay all of our own taxes. I do mean all of them. It's crazy man I tell you. I can see why the early Americans revolted. I get so tired of the Government taking and taking and all they can come up with is some stupid plan to give you 600 dollars. My Lord, I reckon I will take it but it's stupid. Oh well, nothing I can do but pay it and go on I guess, but when you really think of the percentage they take it's sown right offensive. Well, it's on to other things here at Collins. I have many things to tinker with today, like weed eating, spraying, Kids Data, ans also the checking register. I also need a haircut. We will have no break this time around and we are working through so we can take the times off to see Chad graduate from Basic Training on May 1st. It's just around the corner. We are so proud of him and miss him greatly.

I am Thankful this morning that currently we do not have kids that like to open windows and jump out or try and sneak out or cause any problems. Last night all went straight to bed with no hitches. There will be one that returns tonight that does not like to go to sleep and after a over a week at home, look out. All is good....

Off the Road Again

Back at it again. Our days off was quite pleasant. After working in the yard on Thursday, my Dad and I decided to start doing some necessary work on the barn. We just kinda started with no big plans and wound up working most of the day and also Saturday. I think he is going to lease out the pasture for a little while until he is done traveling and then maybe get some more horses and this wild fascination he has with mules. Dad wants to raise a mule. Oh well, it was good but now we are back at Collins. The two boys we took to the beach were here when we arrived and since then two more have showed up. After school we will be3 back to seven and all of them have been home for 11 days, so schedules will have to imprinted back on their minds. Also, starting tomorrow I think our extra bed will be on the market to be filled so we will be back to the full 8 boys soon. Well it's time to get down to some bushiness and get caught up.

Back Home

We made it back home safely and all is unpacked and cleaned. We got up this morning and made our way back home for our off time. So we cut the grass and went out for supper. Friday brings several errands and perhaps continue working in the yard. All for now....

The Beach

What a day. Seeing the Ocean for the first time!!!

Why does this day come so fast. Folks, we had a blast. The two boys we brought are awesome and made this trip everything it should be. TC and i are grateful for all the folks at Collins and those who donated money to make this trip[ possible. Seeing how these boys never get to go home, I think the investment is well worth it. I hope a few of these pics shows enough, but remember I cannot show their faces. Too bad. Let's pack up and head for home.

Checking in

Just checking in. It's Monday evening and we have had a blast. The boys are just overwhelmed with the beach and the weather has been pretty good. It was raining when we got here but God is awesome and he made it stop long enough for us to set up. This is the first chance I got to blog and the boys are waiting on me as I write to ride on the golf cart, so I'll check in later.

The Day Before

Well we are getting everything ready today. TC didn't sleep well so she has been dragging. She must take a nap before we have to deal with all the boys and their parents. We had to run around getting prescriptions filled and stuff like that before most of the boys leave for spring break. Of course we could ask their parent to do this but then if they did what they are suppose to be doing, the boys would not be here. Anyway, no biggie everything will get done before we leave so why worry? I am so excited to see the faces of "A" and "K" when they first see tha Ocean. It's like having kids again. Well, I better run and keep getting it.

Getting ready

I swear sometimes the days just run into each other. I knew it was Wednesday yesterday but could of swore it was Tuesday. I don't know about me sometimes. Anyways, today is Thursday and TC and i have a full day. There are several loads of clothes to be finished not counting our own. I have to take the big van to get a trailer hitch installed this morning and then I am going to wire the pigtail for fit our camper. Of course this is for our trip to the beach come Saturday. Woohoo, can't wait! Tonight we have a surprise for he boys as we purchased Alvin and the Chipmunks. OK, it don't move me that much but I know the boys will like it. It's 6:15 so it's time to wake him up!

Terrific Tuesday

Tuesday began with Bagels with juice an milk. I can't believe how much these guys like bagels. WE were poor and only had toast but they love them some bagels. Anyway, it's a full staff meeting this morning at 8:30 and then after that we will be running to pick up some prescriptions and come back and do some clothes later this afternoon. And then it's time for the boys to be picked up and do homework and chores and be at church for dinner at 5:30. Then, it's off to the reaces to get 7 boys showered and put to bed around 8:30. Then it's time to see who gets voted off American Idol. That is all!
