Our work week has come to an end this morning. Allwe have to do is take the boys to school this morning and then we are headed for home in NC. I have a doctors appointment this afternoon and then we are just going to chill around the house. We will be back on Sunday afternoon because down here we had a big wide screen, to watch the Super Bowl. All is well with us and we are looking forward to this break.

Monday came with our annual blood borne pathogens class. What a waste of time. If someone spits or throws up or any body fluid just put on gloves and treat the wast like a Hazardous Material. How hard is that? But no, the home has to pay this guy to come in and teach us that in 2 hours. Oh well, that's the government for ya. So, we gave all this money to Citi Bank and now Congress is urges them not to purchase a 50 million dollar jet. How ridiclus. I am trying every way I can not to pay any taxes, although we only make a little we still paid over three thousand just in federal. I am sick of them wasting my money. Speaking of that I am also tired of management always telling us to conserve, turn the heat down and why did we buy this, while the office wastes more heat and money than we do. TC and I have grown tired being told one thing while something else is done. We have submitted a letter stating our opposing views on soe things, we'll see if anything is done. Off my soap box I go and take some kids to school. Monday and Tuesdays are busy with Scouts and Basketball practice. Have a good one.....

Goodbye Mr. President. You were a good one and while I had some disappointments from your administration, what I know is this; you stuck to your convictions, which is a rare commodity these days. Thanks for keeping our country safe for all these years. We still need you to be involved sir to keep us safe because a little over half of this country has no freaking idea what they have just done or was otherwise was dumb founded for that moment. Good Day sir...
Over the last few days we have been busy with the kids. Friday we had basketball that evening with the older boys. Then Saturday we had games plus pictures so it was a very busy morning. Of course I also refereed two games as well while TC watched our kids plus helped with the girls cottage because they can't seem to do things that make sense over there. 7 kids with one person, HELLO. Anyway, in the afternoon we took the boys up to see the Falls and then to Dairy Queen. Today, we have church and TC already had the meat a cooking for dinner. Today is rest day and that is what we intend on doing. I made reservations again for us this Thursday at some mountain cabins up in NC where we went last year. Oh yea a rustic cabin with its on private hot tub. Can't wait until Thursday. All for now.

Wednesday came with a long staff meeting along with a staff lunch. I thought it was pretty good and we had a good time. Last night we went to church and had a great supper and youth was good. The boys got to engage in picking and designing the t-shirts for the summer mission trip and youth week. We are glad that Thursday is here as there are no meetings and the boys have nothing on Thursdays evening, the ONLY day of the week they don't have anything except Sunday. It will be nice to just eat supper and then just chill around the house. All for now.

While there are plenty of joys and rewards in this ministry, there are frustrations as well. Sometimes it just hits you without any warning. This is one of those times. We've been here a year and we were against our wall, so they call it. The emotional ties to these kids are tremendous and your heart just breaks for their situation, but you have a job to do. Those times you have to be Stearn even though you want to given in and let them have their way. I swear at times I could just load that RV up and take off to never return. Then, on the good days with the kids there is always some adult you have deal with. A DSS case worker, or our own staff. They say, "oh you houseparents are the butter on the bread. You guys do the real work and make the real difference in these kids life". But at the end of the day this is what happens. One, we make less then anyone here on campus including all office staff. We get the room with two small twin beds in the respite house, that was built for the respite for houseparents, while the program director gets to live there for free and has the master bedroom with a bath. You see these things in the long run does not matter, but what it does do is put action to words, or should I say non-action to words. Say what you must say, let your yes be yes and your no be a no.

Thursday TC and I did some shopping for us and then we saw Gran Torino. Folks, Clint was awesome and you need to see this movie. All was good but the language. On Friday we met Christie and David in downtown Greenville for a meal and some conversation. Saturday we just hung out and watched some movies at the respite house. Today, we slept late, cleaned up the respite house and went out to eat supper. Tomorrow the boys are out of school so we may try and plan something fun with them. All for now, it's football time.

Our Florida trip got canceled so we are just gonna hang out here in the respite house and pretty much do nothing for our four days off. I'm going to see Gran Torino, Clint Eastwood's last acting role, so he says. I got a gift certificate from Fatz for my birthday so that's pretty much it.

Been busy hauling kids to basketball practice and scouts. Yesterday TC and I got our big walmart trip out of the way. It's getting really cole here the next few days so I'm glad we are gong a little south. Having the motor home serviced today and everything else is in order. just packing and getting ready to leave tomorrow. We will be staying at the campground of the Flordia Bapitst Childrens Home in Jacksonville, where Mom and Dad are staying right now, so it will be neat to see them and but also see how a much larger home is run. All's Good!!!

In the top portion of our Class C there is of course a bed, my bed in fact. Benji and I though we might get a little fresh air seeing how TC was standing outside with the camera. Many people say we look alike but I don't see it. They say a dog is a man's best friend. Quite frankly, I cannot imagine life without him. He's my Bud.

WOW, Saturday morning it started at 9:00, first game. Wait there are not enough referees. OK, last year I was a coach and now this year I am a referee. Three hours later we are on our home, just to let the dogs out and then we are off to the MALL, a curse word to me. Actually, I determined to be a help to TC, so after getting each of the 5 boys we had a hundred dollars worth each(DSS Money) we went to the food court where everyone was able to get what they wanted. Fun, oh yea! Getting home and getting situated and beginning to watch the PANTHERS play. OK, so far so good, go panthers. 10 minutes into the game, it's over only I don't know it yet. 4th QTR, I go to bed and fall fast asleep. Sunday is here with 21/2 hours at church, which is good and then I am doing nothing this afternoon. Thursday is coming and we are going to Florida.

To say the least it has been busy. A number of things I can mention. We celebrated our one year anniversary here at Collins. Just 6 more months and we will be the veterans. The new house parents for the girls cottage started while we were on vacation. We've had some meetings to plan out the next few months and even talked about taking some kids to Disney World for Easter Break. Talked to Mom and Dad, they are in Jacksonville FL at a children home doing some volunteer work, then they are are going deeper south for a while. I think we are gong to see them on our next break. We spent the day with our good friends, Scott and Jennifer, which was needed badly. The home is changing some policies including mandating what church we go to, which we agree with, and we even started Direct Deposit. So many things are going on that it's hard to keep up. Upward basketball starts this weekend so now our Monday and Tuesday evenings are filled with practice and the games are Friday night and Saturday Morning. I guess that's enough for now.

What a great mini-vacation, we had a blast and lots of fun with chad. He surprised me with a new Gerber pocket knife and some camo-cord, which has millions of uses. He got TC a Army hoodie, so we were happy. TC dumped tons of candy so he can take it back to the barracks for his buddies. Back at the Ranch things are moving along, basketball practice, boy scouts, feed em dress em and get em out the door. I paid county taxes and worked on our taxes and am really upset right now about that. Today I drop Benji off for his trim and wash and then for me its off to the dentist, yuck.

I am sitting in my camper right now watching a family break camp. Mom and Dad are busy doing the deal while two kids, the girl older, are playing make believe. It's not hard if you have a good imagination. It's really cold out and the wind does not help, but I am warm inside with all the window blinds open. I'm watching knowing that come Sunday I will have to do the same, with the exception we no longer have small children. I see Chad lying down with his mother and he is as big as an ox. Oh the memories of this place; Chad riding his bike and making new friends, Christie enjoying every moment and me and TC doing something that involves cooking or cleaning. Oh the memories.
