Fort Bragg Again

Thursday morning came and we took off for Fort Bragg and ate supper with Chad. We spent the night in the commisary parking lot cause Chad had to get back pretty early. Today, we just rested and then headed on over to Smith Lake Army Campground, where we will stay until sunday. After that we will start heading back to SC very slowly; we don't have to be back until Monday morning at 8:00AM. Have a good one........

The Writing On The Wall

Daniel 5: 1-6 NLT
A number of years later, King Belshazzar gave a great feast for a thousand of his nobles and drank wine with them. While Belshazzar was drinking, he gave orders to bring in the gold and silver cups that his predecessor,[fn1] Nebuchadnezzar, had taken from the Temple in Jerusalem, so that he and his nobles, his wives, and his concubines might drink from them. So they brought these gold cups taken from the Temple of God in Jerusalem, and the king and his nobles, his wives, and his concubines drank from them. They drank toasts from them to honor their idols made of gold, silver, bronze, iron, wood, and stone They drank toasts from them to honor their idols made of gold, silver, bronze, iron, wood, and stone and his face turned pale with fear. Such terror gripped him that his knees knocked together and his legs gave way beneath him.

A man can not help to think about what is going on in this country, my country that I have loved and served. I am not a person of gloom and doom, but the writing is on the wall...... This kingdom, Babylonian, thought it could never fail nor be brought down; impenetrable. The walls were 300 feet tall and 87 feet thick. Who could get over that? But yet it fell Why? Listen to verses 24-31:
So God has sent this hand to write a message. "This is the message that was written: M Mene, ene, Tekel, Parsin This is what these words mean: [Mene] means `numbered'-God has numbered the days of your reign and has brought it to an end [Tekel] means `weighed'-you have been weighed on the balances and have failed the test. Parsin][fn4] means `divided'-your kingdom has been divided and given to the Medes and Persians." Then at Belshazzar's command, Daniel was dressed in purple robes, a gold chain was hung around his neck, and he was proclaimed the third highest ruler in the kingdom. Then at Belshazzar's command, Daniel was dressed in purple robes, a gold chain was hung around his neck, and he was proclaimed the third highest ruler in the kingdom. And Darius the Mede took over the kingdom at the age of sixty-two.

WOW, it fell and so will America if we don repent and stop lifting up these idol gods that so many worship; (Fill in the blank) Very few have put God first in their life and it is apparent that our government no longer puts God first. Can America fall, you betcha. Do I want it to, of course not; but I must say this; Blessed be the name of the Most High God and may his Will Be done. As Jesus said, Not my will Lord but thine......
Let me add that today when I awoke God laid something on my heart and that is this; To commit to a media fast. I commit that i will not read, listen or anything of the such on this day except prayer and the Word of God; in order that he might speak to me clearly. Please do not think that I am boasting in anyway- I need this to get closer to my God and only after contemplating for a while did I decide to post this here. Perhaps we all need a media fast!!!!

Filling The Gap

Ahhh...two weeks of upward basketball left. Well, the girls cottage houseparents were asked to leave today so there is a vacancy next door. I hate it because I am the one who introduced them. Well the staff will really have to pull together and fill the gaps the next few weeks until other house parents are found. Getting excited about our break this Thursday, we are heading back down to see Chad in the camper. Just caught up on eveyones blog, but no time to comment. Off to trade out some kids at basketball practice. Tonight it's "24"!!!!!!!!!!

Just Thinking About It

Are you familiar with Glenn Beck. Watched his weekend program this morning, a rebroadcast of lat nights show. "Thinking the Unthinkable". Great show. He puts forth a senerio of the year 2014. You would just have to watch it. He focuses on what we as countrymen can do if things collapse. The "what if factor". Not a bad idea, to think about and be prepared. Pretty tough issues. I enjoyed the show, even if he is a Mormon. I am glad that I have Christ in my life; and that I am prepared to meet my maker at any time, Are you?
It's church this morning and hopefully a very relaxed day at the house this afternoon.

Bifocals; Goodness Gracious

Boy, we are not sure but it looks like there are going to be some changes around here, but they do not include us. Enough said; I got my new glasses yesterday, progressive bifocals. I am about fall down all the time or run into something. TC and I both got them so we are trying to get use to that. I have to referee some upward games this morning so that's going to be fun. After the games today we are looking forward to having a slow weekend around the house. I took the RV for a good service yesterday and filled the propane gas up. Such a small tank and 30 bucks, gracious. Anyway, that's about it.

In other news I think I have mentioned that I certainly feel the call to get back into the pulpit, but not as a pastor. I am working on our new ministry called "The Broken Trail". You just have to know me to understand the title. Anyway, I am working on a website so folks can know us a little bit before we share and I am also working on a pamphlet that can be handed out or mailed to potential prospects. Not sure where it may go or if it will go anywhere, just trying to be faithful to what I heat God saying. Have a good one.......

Something Fun

The Last post was pretty heavy so I thought I would lighten the mood. Check out the website for Outdoor Base camp Lots of info and fun stuff for camping, My favorite thing to do.

Don't Fence Me In

The last few days have been a little troubling for both TC and I. The greater scope of things seems to be working out but there was some concern. There has been a general attitude that those who work in the office; are professionals, and they are the ones who must accomplish what needs to be done. At least that is the impression that we get. Even though they say that the houseparents are the ones who really minister to the kids, they must make the decisions. I do agree however that there must be oversight, must be leadership, must be at every point in any company or ministry alike that people must do their job. If you are an administrator, then you must administrate. If you are a manager then you must manage; but everyone must do their job and we are are all on a level playing field. If you want my respect you better give me mine, otherwise I have no use nor respect for you. It's just that simple. Am I perfect, of course not but I am a man who knows who I am and what my limitations are. I also know what God has called me to do. There is no top down in a ministry, because even Jesus made himself lower and become man for our sins. Look me in the eye and if I want an explanation; give it to me, but do not fence me in. Y'all have a nice day.... (This is a excerpt of a meeting that Tc and I had with our boss in reference to well many people and many things- Everything looks better)

Love hurts; but boy is it good!

Today I posted this thought under discussions at the broken trail site. I liked it so much I just thought I would share it here too.

Remember the old song from the group Nazareth, Love hurts. I find the gentle words of scripture promising in Luke 6:35 But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and [to] the evil. This scripture puts to rest the idea that we should meet in the middle. There has to be one member of the family that takes to heart these words, BE KIND BECAUSE HE IS KIND". A Reward comes to those who:
*Makes the first step
*Loves the unloving
*Give's in no hopes of return
*Do good to those who harm you

Even in the moment of an argument this scripture applies. In 26 years trust me we have had our share of arguments, but it's always the one who gives in first; makes the first move that is rewarded and the other knows it.

Back at the "youngun" ranch. We were lucky to get a few extra hours off yesterday. Today is shadow day. The middle school students were able to choose a person to shadow their career. Two of our kids choose the office here at Collins. Everything else is normal.

Some pictures with Chad

Chad showing us his new TA-50 gear.

This kind of stuff will be packed and shipped soon

Checking In....

Thought I would update; after our little adventure at the cabin, we decided to take off to Fort Bragg to see Chad. After surprising him and picking him up all we could find was a cheap motel for the night. Fortunately, the next night was a little nicer. Sunday around 10:00 AM we started heading back toward home and decided to head to Waco to spend the night at home. It was a good trip and it was good to see Chad. He was reassigned to 2nd Battalion 82nd Combat Aviation Brigade. Of course he is a 88 Mike(truck driver) so he will be acting in support. He also found out that on or before May 7th he will be deploying to Afghanistan. He was talking about how they are going further North where there is no FOB(Forward Operating Base) and he will be helping build it. I guess more info will come later. We plan on getting up in the morning and heading back to the Ranch as we must return to work by Noon. More later......

A little R&R

TC and I are off on our 4 day break. We are heading up above Spruce Pine NC to a creek side cabin for the night and then we don't know where we are going. Tomorrow is our 26th wedding anniversary and I am so happy and blessed to be with her. We are out of here.....

A little Jaming

For sure it is Monday. My body aches from the weekend which resulted in very little rest. Today we must take the twins to the ear doctor for more extensive testing. We believe they are both deaf in one ear. Tonight only two has practice so that should slow things down a little. TC has a meeting with the twins teacher this afternoon.
Last night I played with the youth praise band during practice. It was so much fun. Three girls and two boys, all teenagers with lots of energy. Thad is the leader, he's big and old like me and is a great leader. He strives for perfection. The dude that usually plays drums switched the jaming electric guitar. It was so much fun. We played some Micheal W Smith's "A new Halleluh" and Shout to the Lord. That'a all today,Have a good one....

Sunday Thoughts

We have gotten some good preliminary results in our quest to go south come Easter break, but hearts sunk when we looked for reservations at Fort Wilderness. No open camp sites. We really wanted to stay there so, we are now looking into a time share from a friend. Help us pray this will work out for the kids as the price has to be kept fairly low. The Lord has something in store I just know it.......

Today TC took the boys to Upward Basketball because I had to take a good pain pill this morning and it knocked me out. Later I felt better so we went to Anderson SC to the very large Castle Playground and then to Golden Corral. We went by Blockbuster and rented the Fantastic Four part 2 and the boys enjoyed watching the movie. It's been a long day and we are about to turn in, so have a good one....

I Just Don't Understand

Wow, they passed the bill that many thinks will destroy America as we know it. I don't know about that but I do think it is completely irresponsible for Congress to be spending this much money. I guess I don't look at things from a broad perspective. I don't need credit because I am debt free and have no intentions of borrowing any money. That is why we are in this mess. If my job fails, I will go get another one. We are not guaranteed this lifestyle that we have now. I have serious issues with spending this kind of money. As Shaun Hannity puts it, I wonder how much pork will be spent in the districts of the three GOP Congress people(2 from Maine and 1 from PA) that decided to go along with this. But why fight it, is this not what America wanted? Change. Is this change we can believe in. Seems like to me that in two weeks Obama has undone most of what Bush did in 8 years. I guess some see that as a good thing. But, I regress. I for one am learning from Obama and his appointees. Cheat every way you can and don't pay taxes. I'm all for not paying taxes.

But then again what do I know? Lord, help us. Why can't we spend all this money on helping people and animals instead of golf courses and such. I just don't understand. Well that's my attempt to express what I feel.

Things are getting better but I still cannot eat solid food. However, I have lost 5 pounds so far so if I can I may just keep it going. Tonight we start basketball and on in to Saturday morning. I'm looking forward to Sunday cause it's gonna be 70 degrees around here. We are in the works of planning a big spring break trip. Last year we took who was life to the beach but this year we are going bigger. We are working on ways to reduce the cost of the trip but for now just pray it might work out. I see someone with big ears, does that help? Have a good one....

ouch.....that hurts

It's been tough the last day or so. That time in my life had come. I have had dental issues for many years and I often do I take after my Dad. Finally, that has been resolved but it's gonna take a while for me to get use to it. Yes, folks my teeth swim at night. That was probably too much information but I can say this, it hurts like crap. This week has come and gon so fast. ONe of our boys will be going home for the weekend this afternoon and two more will go tomorrow, which leaves us five. Gotta go and start breakfast. See ya.....

Getting some Pulled, YIKES MOMMY

This has been a long day in running around with the eye doc and tonight with the kids basketball practice. Took one boy to his friends birthday party. I am dreading tomorrow as I will be gong to the dentist to have the remainder of my top teeth extracted and get an upper plate. I don't understand it but that's the way it goes. Of course TC let me know how perfect her teeth are. Great! Colder and rainy here in SC and they say there is a chance for some flurries tomorrow. I bet the stores are sold out of milk and bread. Have a good one....

Footbal and Not Forgetting

Something happened last night that was out of order. My wife was interested in the super bowl. She was pulling for the Cards and the reason why is that she was born in Phoenix AZ. While she only lived there for three years, while we were on the road she was able to take me to her childhood home. Now you know why she never forgets anything I've ever done or said. I don't even remember being a live at three. Anyway, I hate the Cards lost but as they say," I didn't have a dime in it". It's off the the eye doc today for both of us for some new glasses.

Nice Weekend

Well this time off brought a doctor's visit for me on Thursday. ON Friday TC and I went saw "Hotel for Dogs" and then to Sagebrush for a steak dinner. Saturday, we just chilled and went and got a Lotta Burger, which is a very big burger. Yummy and then went and saw some friends. Last night we hit Bojangles and came home and watched "Welcome to Mooseport" with Gene hackman and Ray Romona. Good movie. Today, we are going to meet Christie in Travelers Rest SC for lunch and from there head back to Collins for the Super Bowl. Next week is very busy as we both are getting new eye glasses on Monday and on Tuesday I am going back to the dentist. Have a good one...
