To the Mountains

Took off on Thursday to Hendersonville NC and we are camping at Rutledge lake Campground. It is very nice. Christie and David came over and we ate supper and went swimming. They took off this morning and we had eggs and liver mush(love it) and biscuits for breakfast topped with some Strawberry jam. Just sitting here watching some very expensive rigs pull out and thinking that they have to dump their sewer just like anyone else. We are going to stay here until Saturday and then possible go look at a tow vehicle in Anderson SC. Been wanting one and I found one on Craiglist that is already set up for pulling behind an RV. I also did some price checking on a new Rubber roof and a new awning. OUCH! Don't have to do it now but it won't be long. The sun is out and it's going to a nice day, rain or shine!

I smell Change

A big shout out to my niece Bethany for enjoying a few mornings of coffee on Mom's porch. Hope your side feels better. Went to bed at 10:00 last night and now it's 3:30 and I can't sleep. We took all of Chad's stuff to him yesterday and said our goodbyes. Not a perfect situation but none the less it is what it is. Chad lifts off at 13:00 today and headed back to Afghan for nine more months. Thanks to all of you guys out there for praying; it is a blessing.
Today we are headed for the mountains for a few days of camping before heading back to work on Sunday night. It's really going to be different as the twins have left and their beds will be empty when we return. We have another being adopted in a few weeks. Big changes at Collins. We are also getting a new boy next week as well. In fact we will get two more in the next week or so. Change is in the air and that is enough said.

Just Piddling

Been busy the last couple of days. Sunday, we went near Mt. Airy NC to see TC's sister Debbie and her new husband and home. Nice. Dude has a bunker and fallout shelter, stocked and armed. I know where I am going if necessary. Yesterday I spent the day trying to re-level the camper after the ground had sunken a bit so the big one is off just a little. Also had to do some plumbing, grass pulling and mowing, among several trips tot he hardware store. It was a good day, but boy is it hot around here. Looks to be cooling off a bit so that should help.
Chad is T minus 2 days on his return to Afghan, but he is still (we have no idea right now) with some buds doing whatever. Kinda upset with him right now because he has not called to let us know his plans or where he is at. This in itself is not too bad but taken his past it becomes quite disappointing and upsetting. Oh well, another day of piddling around the house, after morning coffee time with Mom.

Vacation starts; NOW

Thursday morning finds me waiting on our vacation to begin at 8:00 AM this morning. Because our week is 10 days, we get one week vacation (10 days) plus our regular four days on each side of that totaling 18 days. WOW. Anyway, Chad is with us and we are still making plans, and changing them, then making some more and then changing them. I say it doesn't really matter as long as I am off. I must make a quick trip to a urgent care to have my toe checked out this morning. It's swollen and red and hurts like you know what. Have no idea. Anywho, we are out of here- bye bye

Chad Update

Chad called late last night; he is in Kuwait awaiting a flight that will bring him to the states. Don't know when for sure either Tuesday or Wednesday. If I think my 18 days of vacation will fly by think about Chad's, 14 days of R&R and I am sure it will be gone before he can blink twice. Once he returns to Afghan and Camp Wolverine I think he has another 9 months. Better than some though, they were getting R&R the first week over there. I guess there are too many people for everyone to get it around their 6 months. Take as it comes!

Tubing; Again

Weekend is over and it was a little relaxing. Seemed short though. Anyway, today is our day off and we decided to take the twins along with A tubing as our last bug thing with them. Crystal is working today and will watch the younger ones. The twins will be going home on the 23rd for good, but we leave on the 16th and so they will be gone when we return, which makes us very sad. But, we are happy for them. This will really change the house up a bit as we will probably get 2 new kids within weeks. Lot's of thing happening around here and as always there is more day then you can do so one thing is for sure, it will be there tomorrow. Off we go tubing, what fun fun fun. Sitting back and gloating on the river.

Fun on the river

Took the boys to chau-Ram county Prk today and had a blast! I am really sore tonight as I had some run ins with a few rocks. Also, I hurt my shoulder again so I must be getting old. Down to three for the weekend and I hope to get the camper waxed.

In The Wee Hours

On Thursday I had a morning meeting about an event I am helping with. Met with a group of local youth pastors and had agreat time. Also, a group of interns came from Cross Point Church an helped us pull weeds and line some rocks for borders. The boys helped and had a great time with these guys and gals. The boys worked so hard we thought we would take them to Chau-Ram Park today for some good river swimming. Well, half the RV is clean and shined and I'm gonna try and get the rest today. I didn't realize 28 feet could be so long. That's all except it's 3:43 and I'm awake. After posting I'm going to do some school work until I fall asleep again.

Whitewater Tubing

Yesterday we took the boys to the Family christian Bookstore here in Seneca for a story time along with some fun and painting and some bouncing. They did a good job and the boys have fun. While TC watched them I ran some errands. Later, TC took the boys swimming and I stayed here with one that was in time out. Got half of the RV washed yesterday so I need to finish that so I can wax it. Today me and Big A is going tubing in Helen Ga and we have both been looking forward to that.

What a Weekend

Happy Birthday America. Just so you know, those are fireworks were bought at a Volunteer Fire Dept across the Tennessee state line.
4th of July Celebration, Minneapolis NC. Here are all the veterans gathered together. For the first time in it's 34 year history, this celebration had no WWII vets. A good and prosperous generation is slowly slipping away.

What a great weekend we had. We talked to chad again on Sunday. He was promoted to E-3 ans flown from his FOB back to Qulet for a one night get away. He will be leaving Kandahar around the 12th to start heading back for his R&R. He is doing good and thanks to all of you who are praying for him.

Waterslides and 4th of July

This is Mike. He is the home owner, middle school Sunday School Teacher and all around good guy. As you can tell he worked very hard to make this experience for the youth of Bounty Land a good one. Add some detergent and baby shampoo and kids will fly!
There goes one of ours. He is our daredevil and full blown country boy so many times last night I drew a breathe waiting to see if something was broken or missing.
They pretty much had no control when they hit the plastic.
This boy really had a good time. Thanks Mike and Scott for a good time last night

In other news, we are heading to Candlestick Retreat Center to do some camping with Mom and Dad for the next four days. We will enjoy the fourth with an old fashioned parade, fireworks and community cook out sponsored by the local Fire Department in Minneapolis NC. This is so much fun. No Phone service or internet service so we are gone!
