For Sale; Sold

While looking around for places chad could rent, we came across a house just outside Spruce Pine that was for sale. It had one time been a rental house but the owner had just put down new hardwood floors, painted and the most important thing it had a creek just off the porch. So, we bought it. In addition it had an extra lot beside it that we purchased as well, so we have quite a bit of creek running along. We are going to rent it to chad and try and fix it up more over the next few years, seeing how we live where we work. I believe this to be a good investment.

Just looking through some pics this morning and came across these of the boys at Chau-Ram Park. All of the boys you see in the picture has either went home, was adopted, but sadly one had to be sent to a different treatment center because of his behavior. It is sad but while we had him he was loved and i can only hope someone is still loving on him. I know God does.

This Past Week

Here are a few pics from Homecoming over at Sugar mountain Baptist Church. After I preached we had a wonderful meal.

The other day we went over to Christie and David's cottage and had a birthday party for David. Here are a few pics from that.

Today TC and I rode the bike up the parkway and got off at Grandfather Mountain and stopped by the Old Hampton Store in Linville for a bite. Homemade Pimento Cheese and soup. Delicious.

So tomorrow I will be preaching at Oak Grove and guess what, Yip, it's their Homecoming. I love good church food!

What an Awesome God

I am excited to today as NWA-New Wilderness Adventures are in our area. Why? They are visiting me. I am giving them a tour of the county and of the retreat center. They want to do some new ministry up here and also bring some groups to this area. That' awesome.
Words cannot describe how yesterday went. In trying to get the newsletter out, everything was messing up. My computer, my assistant's computer, even the copying and folding machine. I almost said forget it, but in the end we got it out, all 310 of them. THEN, I had lunch with mt best dude, Chad Rogers, and had a pregnancy center meeting in the afternoon. I didn't get wet riding my bike home and Atwell Cottage came over for dinner. TC fixed "Hay Stacks".
Chad had his first day at work and had to go to the emergency room to get several stitches in his hand where he sliced it open(to the bone) but, the boy went back to work. I give him props for that.
Back to God, He helped us organize some work projects for the center. After the initial cleaning, sanding floors and painting, we are asking churches to sponsor a room and then they come and decorate it. Hope that works out well. More later!

The Week in a glance

A busy week again this week. Sunday I was preaching at Sugar Mountain. It was homecoming and of course that means good food. Great Spirit there. The first part of the week we visited Mom and Dad and did the grass cutting around here and at the office. Tuesday was a short day At he office but then I had to do a meeting there that evening. Wednesday was grueling as I met with an consultant form the State convention of North Carolina about Incorporation of the association and how we are going to operate the Pregnancy Resource Center. We were so excited as Chad had an interview and got a job working at local warehouse. Today, I have to pull some things together for the newsletter( Lord help me) and tomorrow is a Crossnore meeting and also an area tour with NWA, a men's ministry wanting to do more in this area. Oh yea, another thing, a local teacher wanted me to come up with an idea on how we get local teachers together in prayer, so we combined our efforts and came up with Teachers4Christ. Of course if you click the link you can find out more. Gotta go and get started early this morning, Later

This Sunday will be the vote for the pregnancy center. After Sunday at least we will know the location. So many exciting things happening right now. I have had so many calls and emails. Recently, this fellow volunteered his services as the official photographer for the pregnancy center. At a certain point both new Moms and ones with older children will be offered free portraits. Is that awesome or what? Thanks Mr. Wicker

Trying to Keep Up

Saturday morning and there is much going. Early I have studied for a message to preach tomorrow at Sugar Mountain Baptist Church at their Homecoming. That also means good food! This weekend we have two visitors. first, our son Chad is hanging with us and we also have a young lady named Tracie. She will probably being coming to live with us in a few weeks but for now she is being rewarded by visiting here this weekend. TC is preparing to leave this morning with a donor that is taking several of the kids shopping. Many hours and quite a few dollars will be spent. THANK GOD I don't have to go shopping. I may ride later today, not sure. Exciting times around here and we are just trying to keep up but, that seems difficult at times. Perhaps one day we can slow down a little.

Prayer and Clarity

It is amazing what a day of prayer and fasting can do. To be honest I never really intended to fast it just sorta happened, but regardless God used Monday to clarify several things. Last Sunday we presented the Pregnancy center to Oak Grove Church and they will be voting on whether or not to allow us usage of a large white house they had purchased next door. I believe it went well and I think the vote will go well too. I am so excited as the phone calls, emails and facebook messages have been coming in every day, so there are a lot of people ready for this.

Things around the cottage are quiet. We are down to two kids but we will be back to four in a few weeks and will probably be back to six soon after. We will see how that goes. Heading down to see Mom today, have a good week.

One Day With God Camp

Below are some pictures from our One Day With God Camp, sponsored by Forgiven Ministries and the High Country prison Ministry. This was our first camp and this was the most awesome thing I have ever seen. These are the best pics I could take as I was not allowed to take my camera inside the actual prison.
Here we are waiting for our child to arrive.

There she is getting her face painted.

Pastor Dennis from Aaron with their bus to transport us to the prison.

This is our little girl. she is so precious and she was so glad to see her Dad. This day was awesome watching them interact.

Breakfast first thing.

This is Scottie. She started this ministry years ago because her Dad was in prison and she never got to spend time with him. This is one awesome lady.

A prayer circle before we get started.

Arriving at the prison.

Getting in is hard but it's harder to get out.

The last pic shows the tent that we spent most of the day in. That's it, what a day!

Here We Go....

Last night was the beginning of the "One Day With God" Camps. A couple of hours of training and fellowship. This morning I am picking up 125 biscuits from McDonald's and we start the "Great Dads" program. This is training for the 25 dads who qualify for the camp. It is also a mentorship throughout the day. I will be resting up tonight and then both TC and I will be at the camp tomorrow, all day. Saturday starts at 6:00 AM for me and will end around 5:00 PM that day. I can't wait and I hope I can sneak some pics.

Just in time for the rain.

I'm so excited as I have now ordered or picked all the material needed for the front porch at the office. That is going to be so nice. Robedel Baptist Church from down east is doing that project. We are also adding some shrubs in the front with some mulch and I am going to put some river rocks around that. Heading down to see Mom today and as usual it seems that all I can do is rush down and rush back. I am still too busy but it's all God's work. We have a new boy in the house, at least for one week as he could no longer get along with his staff. We are watching until he leaves Saturday for college. So many changes are coming up around here over the next week but i think they are positive changes. I'll explain later All for now

Beauty and Business

So Thursday morning I decided to ride my bike to work. Since I live so close to the Blue ridge Parkway I figured I would ride that way, being only around 10 minutes longer. Am I lucky or what? I get so overwhelmed at the views up here that I see everyday!
Lots of grass to cut today here at the house and at the office and then there is a youth event tonight downtown Newland at the river walk. TC and Christie, my daughter, along with two other friends are spending the weekend in Gatlinburg got some R&R, girls version. Sunday for me is busy as I am preaching twice, one pulpit committee meeting and a later service I need to attend but not sure if I can make that one. Very busy time right now but we must take advantage of it as I can't hardly plan anything in the winter.

This Week in a Glance

It has been a crazy and busy week. This week consisted of so many meetings. Several Pregnancy Center meeting, the board meeting of the High country Prison Ministry, lots of legal paperwork at the office (which I hate but it;s my job). Our office got hit by lighting this week and it fried the phone lines, but we finally got that fixed. I was able to go down and see Mom on Tuesday morning. Today, being Friday means that it is suppose to be my day off, but I have already been working on the website and working on a new website for the pregnancy resource center. We took Oak Grove church on a tour of our parent center so they can see how it operates. This church has a great house for us to use and they will be voting on it in the next two weeks. Today, I am working on the RV a little, getting it inspected and a new tag. I am filling in for TC this weekend as she and several of the girls, including Christie, head to Gatlinburg for the weekend. I was asked if I wanted to go, but with four girls; I'll pass. Can you say shopping? I have a busy weekend today, a youth blast on the River Walk Saturday and preaching twice on Sunday, plus meeting with a pulpit committee Sunday afternoon. Bust times indeed. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.
