Listening and Loving

What a great service yesterday. It was my first Communion service at Warrensville The Spirit was poured out and it was really good. Sunday night was our first Oasis service and I really didn't know what to expect. While it was about two hours in length it was really great. Pretty good worship and word. Great fellowship afterwards as well. Two guys from our church brought a powerful word of listening and loving!!!

Life Overflowing

This week so far has been filled with visits and a continuation of recuperating for me. So far so good. Today I go back and get my stitches removed and see the ortho doctor to make sure everything is healing properly. I do have something special to participate in. The elders of the church has been asked to make a trip to Pittsburgh Pa to pray with and to anoint with oil a sick young boy from our church. He has been there for 6 weeks or so and we are leaving tonight and hopefully returning by Friday late afternoon.

My Heart.........

Yesterday I was so emotional. My thoughts were on my own son, and then also on many of the kids we have served through group homes and fostering. So many kids who have been so wounded by their Dads. Some were just not there, which sometimes are better seeing how some have so abused their kids. My heart was also on those who have lost their Dad. So unfair, but we do have a Heavenly Father that cares for us He cares for our broken hearts and there are plenty of broken hearts out there. Psalms 55:22 tells us to cast our cares upon Him and He will sustain us and never let us be shaken.

A Father's Path

Saturday we drove to Winston-Salem to visit a church member who had surgery. Afterwards, we drove up to TC's sister Debbie's house and cooked out with her and Rob. We enjoyed the visit, then came home via the scenic route on the upwards part of NC. Heading West from Mt. Airy and then jumping down Hwy 18 and through Sparta into Jefferson and then finally over Warrensville.
  Today is Father's Day as we celebrate it here in the US. Perhaps it is because I will not get to spend time with my kids today that I seek to see this day in a new light. I am thinking that one day set aside is not really as I once perceived, but rather the way we live our lives should five honor to our parents. I hope that I have done so. Still, I am a little sad that my kids will not be joining to us today. How bright it would be to see them driving up today but one is in England and the other in Colorado. Because of my recent surgery and the  lack of energy I have, I think a phone call today ios the best that i can do for my Daddy. It is at this time that I hope the life I am leading will honor him. I pray that he feels honored because of that.
Here is a favorite pic of my Dad.

This picture was taken at Disney World when the kids were small.

A Walk in the Woods

I just started my new leisure book called, "A Walk in the Woods". Several folks suggested it so here we go. The beginning has been quite good so I look forward to the rest of it.
Also, just thought I would catch up on some pictures

TC working outside on her flowers
The new Cross Memorial at Avery Association. I worked so hard on getting this done before I left. glad to see it...

Infections or Allergy's

Well it has finally happened. We have signed the paperwork on refinancing the house and it will take effect on Monday January 10th. We are so excited that our payment was reduced by 17 years and is actually a few dollars cheaper per month. TC has been working each night helping prepare for VBS over at the church. Today is the kick off rally. I hope it stops raining. I have attracted some sort of a bug or infection. I am trying my best to plow through but it has its effects. It seems that all I have to do id close my eyes and i go to sleep. I am sore but could be worse off. I am grateful I have been able to continue. Perhaps it is just allergies for this time of the year. Anyhow, I must now spend some more time going over this Sunday's sermon.

The Banner of Truth will Fly High

Last night I visited to Cub scout pack that our church sponsors. The bird houses they built were pretty awesome. They introduced themselves to me and I enjoyed getting to know them. We eventually talked about the BSA ruling in allowing open gay youth to join the scouts. At first I really took offense to this, and honestly I personally still do. however, looking at the faces of these parents and young boys made me stop and think. So here are my thoughts this far:

  • The Change does not take effect to Jan. 1 2014 so don't over react.
  • I will monitor the situation as it evolves
  • But make no mistake about it: Any church I pastor will not associate with an organization that allows open homosexuals to serve outright, as it defies it's own basic tenants
On my honor,
I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people
at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.

Visiting and Fire Departments

Wow, what a Sunday. The Holy Spirit really moved and it was a wonderful service. I am so glad that my parents were able to visit and stayed through Monday morning. Today, TC and I made several visits and tonight I am visiting the Warrensville Fire Department considering on becoming their Chaplain. Tomorrow, we will head down to Shelby to visit TC's brother john David. He is not doing well at all and is in the ICU.
  I was excited that a church member asked me to come tonight. I have missed being in a fire department so we will see to what extent I involved myself.

Blessings and Books

I can say that we are like 90% finished moving in. It feels so good to be settled, which makes us feel like we can relax a little. It's been a busy couple of weeks trying to do both jobs. But, that is now over and I can focus on my studies, prayer and time with TC. That is not to say that we are not still buys. Warrensville is a very active church and it does get a little wide open at times. This summer is still going to be very busy. So far we have this planned 1 week of Deep impact, 1 week of VBS, week of VBS in Butler Tn., Week of VBS in Cranks Ky. Busy but blessed...........
  This weekend Mom and Dad are coming up for a visit. They have always been supportive as most parents are but it will be nice to show them where we live and the new church we serve. Well, that about all for now.......Oh wait, I received my last book of the Walk Series. I began reading a few days ago. The Walk series is about a man walking across america. I really only have a few chapters left and I always get sad when I am nearing a story I have been so wrapped up in. This has been a really good series, I think it like 4 or 5 books so I have lived with this character for almost a year now. Actually, a lady gave my son the first book and I was hooked. As it goes I guess........all for now
