Finishing out the week

Great Revival this week. I'm so happy and encouraged at all the folks who supported this. Our driveway was finished to day and I think we will be very happy with it. I enjoyed getting to know Ronnie Brooks this week. Tomorrow we head to Spruce Pine to repair the heater at our house and then on Saturday we are going with the kids to Lazy 5 Ranch. Sounds like fun....

Change.......

What a great service last night at Tuckerdale. Pastor Larry Sheperd brought a message full of passion. He challenged us to be good soldiers of Jesus Christ. It was good to see churches from all over Ashe County unite in prayer and worship.. Here is my thought. Are we willing to do "whatever it takes", to reach people for Christ. We unite, pray, sing songs of old, and shout like we are excited. that is awesome, but are we  really ready to do "whatever it takes"? I hope so!!! I hope that all of us can see the changes coming and be quick and ready to follow Holy Spirit's guidance and direction. When we desire to reach new people, people who really has no desire to come to church, but desires fellowship, teaching and guidance. The ones who have been in the past, visited our churches, was judges by the stares and use this as an excuse to never come back. Can we expect more from someone who is without Christ? Surely no, therefore as the Christ follower, we must engage our communities, so that we might be able to equip folks with the teachings of Christ; AKA, the gospel. Change takes time, and change for the sake of change is not proper change. Lord. help us see the way......

Another Life Lesson on Humility

Last night at Phoenix Baptist, Brother Tom Graybeal brought a great message from Deuteronomy and again a message was about humility. Folks, God is speaking here, this I know. So many places I hear and see this message. I hope we are listening.
This morning was prayer time at Midway and I enjoyed talking with some pastors afterwards. Work started on the driveway today and bam......yes we hit the fiber optic cable. Well, thank God it worked out, it's back on and the turn around spot is going to be bigger. Over all I am very happy with the work done today. Tonight we are going to Tuckerdale Baptist Church, where we will continue our Revival, but it is also the first worship rally for the prayer we are praying for our 2014 crusade. Oh God, send your Holy Spirit!!!

Spirit Filled

Yesterday, being Sunday was indeed a great day. Busy, but nevertheless a very nice day. I really felt the Holy Spirit help me preach Sunday morning, and then a visit to a lady in our church that lost her Dad, and then we started the Community Revival last night. I preached at our church and now we move to Phoenix tonight, Tuckerdale on Tuesday and then finally Pleasant View on Wednesday. Today, I am mentally and emotionally tired. Going to take this morning and rest, run some errands and such. Can't wait until tonight an be back with God's people....I love being Spirit Filled, it is the only way to live a life pleasing to God. When I fail or manage to get in the flesh(and I do) it is because I stop asking to be filled constantly with Holy Spirit. Life Lesson...Stay Humble, and trust in God and we can Mount up like eagles, run/walk and not grow tired/weary. Isaiah 40:31

Kids, Ministry and Blessings

Driveways are important. Not sure why we park on driveways and drive on parkways, but I digress. We are getting new gravel for us. I can't wait to get our of the crushed sand and mud. We have tracked it in our cars and the house for some time now. Can't Wait.....What a great end to an awesome week. We participated in our Churches barbecue fundraiser. I started Wednesday with one of the Brotherhood men. Thursday I went with another to deliver some chicken. Loved seeing everyone work together.
So Friday we spent a couple hours with some kids from Ebeneezer Christian children home. We took them to Pizza Hut and then went on a little trail walk. It was great. We are gonna be there host family for now. We listening to a great message from Evangelist Bryan Mclure. Wow, what an awesome testimony and just what I needed to hear. It was great.
Today, I will spend a few hours with our Cub Scout pack. Excited that they are making the transition into Trail Life Scouting program and leaving the boy scouts in the dust.....
As always I am looking forward to Communion Sunday at church and then our Revival starts Sunday night. Excited to spend four nights at  four different churches and four different preachers...

Life

Lots going on....What a tough day at Matthew Barnes funeral. Excited that he is not in pain and suffering anymore, but still sad. Attended a birthday party for a retired truck driver turning 70 that afternoon. Such emotions.
We had a god day at church, 96 in SS and about 125 in preaching and we had a lot of folks gone. It was good to see some new faces. Brotherhood fundraiser was good, Pinto's and slaw, with onions. Man oh man. Later that day I was a driver for the Virginia Creeper trail. We were tired when we got home but it was a good day indeed.
This week is no less busy. Fire Department Training, Office time, Visitation, Deacons Meeting, Preparing for Business meeting and of course the barbecue fundraiser.
Regardless of what is going on, I must remain focused on Kingdom work, to b Mission minded and most of all be Spirit filled...

The Way

Yesterday was very emotional. Beginning at the Elementary school praying with some teachers and just being there while some cried and remembered Matthew Barnes. So many people I talked to yesterday has such fond memories. Last night at church I was thinking how cool it would be for Matthew you be here at church, but how cooler that he is in Glory.
Speaking of Church, another great night. The kids and the youth are starting to show up earlier because there are now adults there to receive them. they want to be there. Last night went a little better. The youth so wanted to hang out with Dana and Monica, and that was awesome to see. God is doing wonderful things, despite some who are unwilling to change. Our kids are awesome, and we need to get on board with what God is doing.....Lord, show us you ways...

Pics and Prayers

After recovering from a Sinus infection, the weekend went better. We visited some friens down in Taylorsville Saturday night, and then church was again awesome. We had our annual church picnic up at Grayson-Highlands State park in Virginia.

Monday, we got a new oven for the Parsonage and then ended with a Church Council meeting. Tuesday was our Senior group OWLS monthly breakfast at Shatley Springs, getting some material for a new kids ministry and ended with a Building and Grounds Committee meeting.
Wednesday morning I am going with some other pastors to our local elementary school to talk with and pray for some local teachers. There were sad news today as a local young man was healed by being transformed to Heaven. This is the same boy that several of our deacons and myself traveled to Pittsburgh to visit and anoint with oil and pray over. Only god knows the pain that his Dad is feeling now. Our prayers is for the family.

Shining Stars

We had the privileged of making some good visits this week. Wednesday was another great service. I rode in the van to pick up some kids. It's something to be sitting on a porch helping some kids put their shoes on to go to church. I'm so encouraged at what God is doing.

TC and I also got to spend some time at the river on Wednesday. Today started with a fire call and has ended with some sort of a Sinus infection. Not feeling so well tonight, hoping it is short lived.

Time flies.....

It's hard to believe that our time with Christie and David is gone. What a whirlwind it was. We enjoyed our time with them so much, but now they are on their way to California. Christie sang at church yesterday and it was, of course, awesome. I can't wait until they put it on the website. We took them to Charlotte and dropped them off to get their rental car and we had a big family meal at Mom's house. We got back home late last night and TC and I agree with all the things this past week, we are exhausted. Christie and David spent the night with Nanny and Pawpaw and they left around 5:00 AM this morning. There is much to do this coming week, but today is just some time to catch up on some paperwork, get ahead on some study time and spend some time with TC.
Belle update*** She is doing great. After having her spaded, her attitude has changed for the better. She is such a sweet dog and I love the way she will play with anyone, just like Benji...
