This week we took the camper down to Mom and Dad's house to winter there. The week so far has been really great, except of course I've had two members in the hospital with surgery's. This morning we (WFD) assisted Pond Mountain with a structure fire. Man, was it cold up there. I hauled 3 loads of water in 1333. Hospital visits and some office stuff and then tonight is our month business session.

Abounding Blessings

Blessings Abound! That is what I think of today. We have had great services. Our attendance remains steady, with a few visitors from time to time. I am concerned that at times they do not return, and of course I feel that it is my fault. I know that I have not followed up like I should. There is always something that needs done, but I am trying to set a pace and stay with it. God is good, that we all can agree. We had another great OWLS trip to the beach and it was so much fun. Here are just a few pics of that event

First Snow of 2014

First snow of the season...Today we are packing for the beach. After church on Sunday, we are gong with our Senior Adult group to Myrtle Beach SC. Been looking forward to this for a while...

Little, Small and in between

OK, been a few months. I have no desire to try and catch up but at the same time I want to share a few things.
1. This has been the hardest few months of our lives.
2. God is faithful in the fact that somehow He provides what we need when we need it. Little things, big things, in between things

Well with all the different things happening this summer I could not even attempt to share my feelings, but what I can do is just testify to God's Goodness!!!Another thing I can do is just post some Scripture that relates to this....

James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. -

Bottom line, God is Faithful!!!

We were so excited that our son Chad was able to spend the weekend with us last weekend. Now our daughter Christie has flown in from California and will be staying with us two weeks. I was so excited to go and pick her up in Hickory, where her friend Rachael met us. It is nice to have her for sure..Not only will she be a help but it is just good seeing her...

Upside Down

It's been a week or more since our world has been turned upside down. While we were busy with the kids, mission trips, VBS and many other things, TC was diagnosed with Colon Cancer. Whew, I can hardly get those words out. Well, the doctors operated and feel strongly that they got it all so that is good. Currently, she is recuperating and getting better each day. To say this has been difficult is an understatement to say the least. The kids have been in daycare, which has helped a lot, and then we get the news that our daughter, Christie will be arriving next Tuesday. That will be a blessings for sure. I find it taxing to attempt to do all that needs done for the kids, the house, the wife, and the church. But, by God's Grace we will get through it.

A Faith for the Future

We have been very busy since we returned from Kentucky. Washing clothes and preparing for Sunday. TC was feeling better, to the point that she cleaned the house all day Saturday and then went to Walmart with all of us. Anyways, the pain returned with a vengeance and now she as been admitted into the hospital to have several test ran. With the duties of a pastor and a husband, now with 4 kids to raise, sometimes I wonder what we were thinking. However, that is not something that I should concern myself with because it is part of God's plan, and I don't question it...I just do it..That is tough but Faith must be dived into. Wow, with the current sermon series "A Faith Formed Future" we are talking about Encountering and Engaging Faith and also Encouraging Faith. We are starting the book of James in our SS class and I am leading the church through I Peter on Wednesday night. There is a lot of talk about Faith.

2014 Cranks KY VBS

What an incredible Cranks Creek VBS we had this year. We joined with another group from Ohio and a great time. We saw kids pray to receive Christ. We saw kids loved on. God brought this trip together. All praise to Him and him alone..

WBC 2014 VBS

We had an awesome VBS at our church this year. I heard many comment on the positive of this year's VBS which is pretty awesome. Everyone seemed to have a great time and we had two to pray and receive Christ.

The Family

So the kiddos are doing fine and we are adjusting. there is still so much to do. So many bags and boxes yet to go through, but we are about to capacity. TC has gotten the kids bedrooms in good order. The kids are loving it here. They love gong to our church and our church has accepted them with open arms. It seems like we both have had some health issues of late. Infections and let me tell ya, Gout is nothing to wish on your worse enemy. So, we tarry on..journey one, or adventure on, however you want to look at it. Nights like tonight is awesome. Kids stayed up until they were so sleepy watching a good movie. When they climb in your lap and say they love it here and want to stay here forever, it makes a difference...

In our past we had worked at South Mountain Children's Home and had a sibling group of four. Through a series of circumstances, those kids are back in our life. Since that time, Tc has worked at another group home and we had considered fostering again but something always stopped it. Now, through an emergency situation, we have in our care these four kids. The day after we got them, their parents appeal for parental right to be terminated went through the court system and the kids are now fully adoptable. What does this mean to us? Good question!!! It appears that we are beginning the journey of adoption. Personally, I have a thousand questions. I have spent some time researching some state laws, but bottom line we should have  a lot of our questions answered tomorrow when DSS comes to visit again. Until then, we tarry on...

Journey on.....

The thing that I like the most about pastoring a church is sometimes the hardest, and that is handling situations that deal with people. It is hard on your heart when you see grown men cry and others in ministry attempting what they can fir the Lord and struggling. basically, what I am saying is that being a pastor of a smaller church requires you to deal with the lives of people and is not always easy. In dealing with certain situations it may seem tough but it is actually the best part. I know I don't always make the best judgement but none the less, I feel that I have prayed and followed the spirit of God I most of them. In the last few weeks there have been many situations that were not easy. I had to hear some things that I didn't want to hear but in the end I think it will make be a better pastor. I must also say that sometimes a pastor must step out on faith and say what needs to be said. I was sitting here today just thinking about certain things when this came to my mind. In the end, if I stay faithful to God's Word, and learn more to trust the people I have around me, I think it creates a better atmosphere for a long and lasting tenure as pastor of one church, which is what I long for. More to come on this subject.
Personally, I have had to deal with some things that have been both challenging and rewarding at the same time. I have somehow developed gout in my left heel which is very painful, participate in a funeral and TC and I have taken custody of a sibling group of 4 kids ranging in ages from 3 to 8. The story will have to be told day by day in how we react to this and here are decisions that will have to be made. The journey continues....

Memorial and Missions

We were so blessed by the Ashe County Honor Guard as they paid honor to those who have given the ultimate sacrifice.

Below is a pic of the 22 member mission team that worked at the Winston Ronald McDonald house.

Thursday night, our Band of Brothers group met for some fun adventure firing many different weapons and really noting in particular. We grilled some meat and talked about our stories just a bit as we had invited another man to join us...Good times indeed!!!!

Spruce Pine Update

So in this whirlwind of a story, the state has decided not to take the house, but there are so many questions. There are issues with the septic tank so it seemed that the state we think is a little confused. TC talked to our contact person and he is suppose to talk to his supervisor and contact us if that is necessary. This has become so aggravating, I wished it would come to an end either way, but for sure we do not want to leave ourselves in a bad place for the future. We have about decided to try and fight this thing so that the State would have to purchase our house. We will see. I am personally very torn about the issue. I guess I would be OK either way....

Pictures are the best words

We have had a couple hard days at the Fire Department. Here is one of our trucks backing in from a wreck call...
Below are pictures from our Spring Chicken Barbecue Fundraiser. We sold out fairly early with around 500 chickens being cooked..

Down at Mom and Dad's house on Mother's Day. TC and I spent the night and we were enjoying a nice morning outside..

Monday, May 05, 2014

Yesterday was a good day indeed. God is good and faithful. We started with our Gideon speaker and had an offering of over 700 dollars. Afterwards, our church, and a good number, went to Ebeneezer Children's Home for a cook out. Everyone had a great time and it was a good thing for sure. TC worked hard to make sure that the workers were served instead of them having to do the serving. Daymon, Bobby and Glen did a good job cooking. Good day indeed...

Since Revival the church has been very busy. God is working in our midst, and I might add that I don't understand all the ways in which he is moving. There is a unity among the core group that I have never experienced before. God is like that. We recently went on a mission trip to Red Springs Mission Camp. We really enjoyed this time together and we assisted a family in getting closer to getting in their house. What a special place..
