Another tough week

Checking out the goldwing this past Saturday , it's ours now.

Well this week has continued to be at a pace in which I am not comfortable at but I assume that it will end very soon. Monday and Tuesday was packed. Today looks to be the same, but I am hoping that it will slow down by Thursday. Just slow down you say. Well, yes I guess I could but I am a people pleaser and I have a hard time saying no. Anyway, God is still giving me the strength so I going to keep doing it for now.

Brighter side: I bought the "Goldwing" yesterday. It's really nice. Of course the state pissed me off cause you know all the hoops I have to jump through. Now I have three days to get it inspected because of NC new law. The only thing is Newland office is closed on Tuesday and now even spruce Pine is closed on Tuesday as well. that means almost an hour drive one way to get license. To require something the state should keep the offices closed. Or, don't have so many regulations. Oh well, that's not going to happen.

We are very excited that Christie and David has an interview at Crossnore today and then will shadow another couple. My inside source says they have a very good chance. We'll see.

Monday, Getting started

Monday and I am excited. Our daughter and son in law took applications to Crossnore. They are going to at least think about it. Shhhh, no pressure. The weather is going to be nice this week and I am looking forward to that. I am suppose to purchase our Honda Goldwing today, help Nick buy his truck, go to two meeting this afternoon and somewhere in between take the RV to get new brakes and a tire fixed. Oh yea, I've decided not to wait until the 15th, I am going to go ahead and send in my taxes so Uncle Sam can go ahead and give it away. something ain't right about this......I guess I forgot also that I have to start training a new guy sometime this week but that will on be a few hours a day. Loving it for now!

Still Running Strong but Slowing down

Still running around Avery County. We got the newsletter all finished at least my part anyway. My night ended with picking a boy up from the hospital that had hurt his foot earlier from cutting up some fallen winter wood. I was told that I will be training the new man at Atwell, so I began getting files and the computer up to date and in some order. This morning TC and I are meeting Mary at the Tri-County Pregnancy Center about the possibilities of starting an Avery satellite office. We will see. Afterwards we are picking up a new truck for one of our boys.He is so excited to know that he is getting it. Oh yea, I took another boy that just got his permit riding around Newland yesterday. Scary! After the truck pick up and we bring it back to Faith House I have to run back to Crossnore for some duties there at Atwell and then back to White's Memorial Baptist Church to meet with their Pulpit Committee for some guidance. Tonight I think I will rest and get ready for another day. Heading back to Faith house on Saturday. We are looking forward to Christie and David spending the weekend with as well.

Running Strong!

So things went well at the cottage last night. I can't believe how some people are so dirty, even at their jobs. My OCD kicked in and I cleaned and organized all afternoon. It looks tons better. They have intervied a guy for the job and he will come this afternoon and spend a day and a night to see if he thinks he might like it and in turn I will evaluate him as well. I am splitting my mornings and afternoons here at the association office so as of now I am running strong!

A Slight change in Plans

Just another view that I get to see everyday on my drive to work. Pretty awesome huh?

I cannot believe that I was watching it snow yesterday. We wound up with about an inch but nothing on the roads now. After training all day yesterday I thought I really needed a break. I have worked here at Faith house for several weeks non stop so I was thinking about a day or two break. Then, I was asked to fill in for another cottage because a RC had quit. so, TC will now be here at Faith House and I will be at Atwell cottage, which is another stepping stones cottage but on a tighter level than this cottage. This is until Saturday another RC will take over. come next Tuesday I am not sure, it depends if they get someone hired between now and then. Well, it's off to the office this morning for a few hours and then I have start my running for Atwell cottage. See ya

Pastor/Wife Banquet

Here are some pictures of our Pastor/Wife Banquet, sponsored by the Avery Baptist Association, held this past Saturday night at Minneapolis baptist Church. A big thanks goes out the the youth and their leaders for hosting and cooking and serving everyone. They did a great job!

Getting On with It

Another great night in water aerobics at the YMCA last night. I mean she really pushed us hard. You wouldn't think it could be that good but it is. Afterwards TC and I shared a Mexican dish and then home to rest. last night I was exhausted, it was a long day. This morning i have to run down to Morganton and meet a guy from the BSCNC as he travels through and donates a new computer to the association. We really needed an upgrade. We will now be able to add quick books. also, some good news coming out of a meeting yesterday. I will share more about this later when the details come out but I am excited about this new opportunity for ministry. Much to do today so I better get started with it. Oh yea, Mom and Dad if you read this thanks for doing what you do! I know that I am your favorite son.

YMCA

So, last night was our first trip to the Y in Linville. We had joined about a month ago but had yet to get into any routine. We are gong to the exercise program on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, may be Monday too. It's all fitting it in. It's an hour round trip drive so it's hard to do but we are going to be committed in doing so. These water aerobics are tough. I am sore as heck this morning. At 46 I need to get some extra baggage off for sure.

Sunday

I had so much fun with Christie yesterday. The movie Green zone was not as good as the Borne series, but it was still alright. Today I am preaching at White's Memorial. They are without a pastor and I am working with them to find one. I did a little background research on a candidate. I am using Ecclesiastes 4: 9-12 as my text. After church all of the gang (minus Tc and Ashley) will meet at the Mexican restaurant to celebrate Chris's birthday today. We always celebrate with food! After that I think I will require some rest and there is a lot of paperwork I have to catch up. Later....

Saturday

I can't wait until saturday. It's Daddy/Daughter Date Day. We will go see "Green Zone" and Applebees riglet basket. And all of this with just me and her!

It's All Good

So, today I have to take Tc and a resident to the Charlotte airport this morning as they fly to Chicago for a conference. Another weekend of being a bachelor I reckon.

Spark to a Flame

We had a great pastors conference last night. I was so encouraged by those men and i hope I returned the favor. We are seeing little sparks here in Avery County that just might catch! Pray with me in several areas of missions and especially with out youth.

Running the Race

So, today is Sharpen, our monthly pastors conference. We have one at 8:00 AM (coffee) and one at 6:30 PM (sweet tea). I am looking forward to this today. Things seem to be running at such a high rate of speed right now. I'll give it a few more days and then I will slow down myself if I have to. We spent all day yesterday in training and there is so much to get done before thursday. Last night TC took one of our girls to the emergency room with severe back pain and you know that takes a while. Today, I think TC and I might go to Banner elk and find a good resturant and spend some time together. That is between scheduled events. Keep on Trucking for Jesus!

Mountain Missions

Tonight we had a special mission service at Green Valley Baptist church and the man you see preaching is Mike Remmy, a native born Haitian who has started four churches in and around Port-u-prince. What a blessing we had tonight and we were able to take an offering of over $2100.00 for Mike to take back with him. I was very proud of the Avery Association for this support.

Winding Down The Week

Today I took five kids to Charlotte for follow up with their braces. A Charlotte orthodontist has volunteered his services, at around $5,000.00 a pop. We had a good time, going out for breakfast and then of course lunch. The kids were great and i enjoyed the day. On the down side I had some things at the office to do but I can always work harder tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow, it's 8:30 pictures on the campus for the school annual, then off to the office until 11:45. I have a POC(plan of care) at 12:00 and then another at 1:00. Afterwards I must do food pick up because TC is down at UNC Wilmington with a resident taking a tour. They are having a blast so all is good here. Praying that it works out to go down and see the folks on Saturday.

Honeybun is home

Well TC made it home safely from TX. She is very tired but there is no rest for the weary. Many things to do between now and thursday when she leaves again for Wilmington NC. She is taking one of our students for a college tour until Saturday. Today was busy for me as i had all the end of the month paperwork due. Tomorrow is another busy one between here and the office. I am ready for my weekly dose of "24" now.
