Floors and Food

This month we are collecting food for the Baptist Childrens Home at the Missions Office.

Tomorrow I am preaching at Oak Grove Baptist two times and hopefully get some rest as we get ready to head back to the group home on Monday. boy, the week off sure does go fast.

Back Splash

Work Day- Tuesday

Above- This is the type of paneling we are putting up on one wall. We both like it.
Below- TC chose this color. It is some sort of a country red. Below the cabinets we are going to put some copper tin for our back splash.
We also ordered the replacement windows today, painted the ceiling and we are going to Lowe's tomorrow to get some more stuff.

Easter 2011

Here are a few pics from our Easter Dyeing time at Union Baptist in Polkville NC. The church invited all three group homes in Cleveland County to participate and have a hotdog dinner. Sorry, I had to black out their faces. They went back the next day and looked for over 2500 eggs.

The Beginning of the Off Week

In the office early this morning working on some details of mission trips, three newsletters and a Kids Camp along with some legal documents I need to finish and send to the state. I also have to deal with the fact that the VA may be cutting me off cause I make too much money. Honestly, TC and I make around the 50 thousand mark. For two people they say that is too much. WOW. We will look at the possibility of some deductions and I hope some co pays. I really loved going to the VA so we will see. Planning on doing some more work at the house this afternoon so it should be a pretty good day. We are glad to be on our off week and hopefully will catch up on some rest. This is called our off week but there is not much off time, as each day has something. I know God will provide each day's strength that is needed to produce results that He desires and in which He will receive the Glory for all that is accomplished.

Good Friday

Good Friday Morning! Get it. Well this morning I am leaving Avery and headed back to work in cleveland County. Tonight we have a supper to go to at a church, tomorrow it is Easter Egg hunting at the same church and Sunday it is just regular church times. I may try to go to Waco's sunrise Service. It just depends on events around the house. It is so hard to plan anything when you are on shift. Anyway, Monday will be here before you know it. We are excited to get to work on the house some more next week and we should be moving in on our next shift off.

Cabinets Complete

I had to go to Burnsville this afternoon to pick somethings up from Tri county Pregnancy Center so I stopped by the house and finished the sink and plumbing. Now, we will paint, do the flooring, back splash, recessed lights and crown molding, plus new windows and trim.

Left early this morning and headed back up here to Avery county. It's bee a great productive day so far, lots of emails answered, lunch with a friend, letters written and meetings planned.

"A mans got to know his limitations" I think I may have learned mine. Hope you enjoyed the quick Eastwood this morning. After a whirlwind week at the group home, we've worked either here at the office, the pregnancy center or at our house in Spruce pine some long hours every day. Sunday we I woke up I would have usually gone to church(actually if I am not preaching I pick one of our associational churches and visit) but I was just too pooped. I realize now that we tried to do too much.
TC and I took advantage of the time and (let's say mid-morning) we talked a while and even started planning our summer Kids camp.(yea i know working again)
Anyway, here we are Monday morning and we are packing the car and getting ready for a new week at the Home. Because of the storms that hit North Carolina, I have opted in for the on call Chaplaincy program for the NC Baptist Men, so this week if called I may be doing that instead of coming back to Avery County, we will see.

Water

This mornings pastors fellowship was good but the numbers were small. Resting a little bit this morning and then heading back to work on the house some more.

Getting on with it

Today was a good work day. We finished the cabinets and installed the counter tops along with a new 9 inch deep sink. Cecil, Tc and I worked all day. We also added an electrical outlet in the bathroom. Oh yea, Benji got a haircut today.

Went out last night shopping at Lowe's for a sink and other supplies and decided to try me a Reuben at Banner Elk Cafe. It was awesome! Home made potato salad was great

After our first week at Christine's home it was back to Avery county. Tuesday was spent in the office and then the pregnancy center. Wednesday we started on the cabinets after they were delivered around 9:00 AM. We stopped around 9:00 PM with only one cabinet left. I will post some pics tomorrow. Today was another busy day in the office and the pregnancy center. So, come Friday we are heading back to the house to finish the cabinets, sand some drywall and finish the electric work with Cecil Trivette. There are some many other things we want to do but we will have to wait and see how the days goes. Priced some windows today too and a water filtration system. Lots of money but in time. Good Night

Storms and Strain

After finishing up in Avery county I made it back down to Shelby and met with the Director of Hands on Missions for several hours and then headed to the house. Friday night was busy. Saturday TC took two girls to the high school for a fun run and I stayed and supervised major clean up. Saturday evening we took the girls to eat Japanese and by the time we got home we had lost power again. It come back on Sunday morning around 10 so we didn't go to church but had devotions. By Sunday, TC and I were exhausted and could hardly wait until Monday. It finally got here and we made it home. I worked in the office until around 4 and had some supper and started loading things up for our meeting. I arrived home around 9:30 PM, watched some TV and then I think I passed out. It is the office this morning and the pregnancy center tonight, then TC and i are have a meal out and trying to relax a little tonight.
Our Cabinets are being delivered on Wednesday so we are planning on working on the house all day on Wednesday.

Whew.....

What a whirlwind this week has been. After starting Monday we had a terrible Stern on Monday night and lost power at 1:14AM and did not get it back until late Wednesday evening. This caused many challenges and some aggravation but all is well that ends well. I came back here to Avery County on Thursday and worked in the office, the pregnancy center and then a 3 hour meeting that night. It is Friday morning and I am trying to wrap things up here in the office getting ready for our Spring Meeting on Monday and then I will head back down to Shelby where we will stay there until Monday morning. Much to do and much business but it is all good!

A New Day

Monday morning and we are all packed up and getting ready to leave for our first day at our new job. Christine's Home in Shelby is where we will be every other week. I got a message last night that we were expected and that they were excited that we were coming. I feel like it is a new day. So, here we go. I'll update later one

Day # 6

End of Day # 6 and we have finished everything we set out to do this week

• Repair and replace Floor joist and band
• Level the entire kitchen
• Ran new plumbing throughout
• Replaced electrical
  
• Added new plywood
• Moved Washer/Dryer/Water Heater out of the kitchen to an enclosed porch
• Added outside water and electric receptacle
• Run a 240 cord to new storage building/workshop(finish in two weeks)

It was great to have people around me that knew what they were doing. I feel that we accomplished a lot in a week. Much more to do though

Day # 5

Day # 5 and we have the floor finished. Today my back and knees hurt so bad, especially my knees. You just simply cannot stay off of them screwing down flooring but it couldn't be helped.

All connections have been run to the new utility room including a junction box for hot water heater and washer/dryer
