Planting & Pork

What an incredible day yesterday. The weather was perfect. We had purchased two more trees from Lowes the other day, and today I went to Grassy creek hardware and purchased some bags of mulch, potting soil and cow manure.

During supper time, in which TC had made some pulled pork barbecue, it was delicious by the way, we watched a movie about a dog herding sheep,

Yip, the boys watched it to.

This is so funny

Outstanding

What an incredible day that I needed. Yes, I did some work in the morning, and I received several calls and had to make some decisions, but overall, it was a day I needed. Now, here comes Easter.

Silence & Staff

Mitchell Medics assisted the Fire Departments by providing water. One team!

My ride into work one morning.

My crew board. Trying to fill it up.

Went to visit Mom and this is what I saw. It was just Payton's boyfriend.

Mitchell Medics had some joint training for farm incidents.

Rescue or Recovery

With all the crews gone, it can get really quite at the base.

On this day, we assisted a dispatcher who had a heart attack and was now coming home. One of our Medics took him to Mission, and that same Medic walked him home.

Everyday is different as director. I make my plans and they quickly change once I go in. There have been numerous victories with a few defeats. Staffing is still an issue. WE have hired one and retained another, so we have two more to go.

Breaks & Blessings

The new couch was delivered and everyone seems to like it. New foot stools coming today.

Taking the dogs out.

That Sunset

Each day has had its challenges. At times I have been completely overwhelmed at the amount of work. I have missed stuff that I didn't even know was there. Better I guess. The base culture has changed and it is turning upward. I have prayed and sked God to help me with this everyday. Some tough decisions have had to be made, interviews taking place, rearranging shifts to better serve the community and considering some options to truck relocation. All in all, I am happy. The Commissioners seem happy for now, the FD's are a work in progress, so, overall it is going great. All Glory to God. This is a lot like it was when I was a Pastor. It just never ends, so you have to pick a spot each day and say, "This is the end". I am blessed for being given this opportunity. I am about ready for a break.

The ride into work on Saturday

Out with the old, in with the new

Without corner piece.

What a way to end the day. It's been a busy week indeed. Lots of hours. I am tired for sure, and there are many shifts unfilled, but we are managing.

Staff & Sounds

Well, our first staff meeting went pretty good yesterday. I heard positive remarks about our plan going forward to fix some of our issues. One thing that was so obvious, we have to get the pay to a higher level. That is the bottom line. I have had many conversations with employees and that is the ONE thing we must do. We are having to deal with some that are on the brink of leaving and one on one we are meeting and trying to fix that. I have worked hard on one that had left and now we just get him/her to return. Sure wished we could.
Came home last night and enjoyed some time sitting on the front porch with TC listening to the creek and the the cicadas. We love our lanterns spread around the yard. We are getting more too. I have to make a decision about a lawnmower pretty soon.

Challenges & Conquests

Whoops- So, a young driver had an incident. This is unfortunate. I understand that Overhead door from Johnson City worked 7 1/2 hours to repair this. Well, it is not the end of the world, but I sure this had not happened.

Look at this bunch. This is probably the youngest rotation that we have, with a student as well. I want to make sure that my day includes being with the staff, joking and so forth. I have to be me, but I also knew it was time to walk away. Wow, I'm the boss now.

Don't you hate pics of yourself. So, this was for the new ID badge. I put this here to remind me that I have to face the new role that I have. TC wanted to put it on Facebook, but I cautioned her not, until yesterday, when it was time to let her do it. She said that I deserve this and that she knows that I will do a good job. Remember, the reason I am doing this is that I felt that Lord nudged me to it. I felt a peace, and I still do, although, I am nervous about this for sure. So much information, so many decisions. Each day hold its own challenges. What a feeling to conquer problems as they come. Let the day begin!

Director Update

 So far so good...

We have now restructured our leadership team to provide less chiefs. We need more Indians. I am working hard to make things as simple as possible. I have been more busier than ever. The workload and the information has been overwhelming, but, having Tristan has been golden. He is fast and efficient with the computer things.

Finally, the old director is gone. I hate it, but had to advise him that yesterday was it. In order for the new to come in, the old had to leave. We have a lot of work to do, so lets keep at it.

Challenged & Confident

Where do I start? After finding out that my shoulder was too bad for surgery and that PT was my only option, I was a little relived. I really did want to have that surgery.

Work has changed-
Boy has it. So, long story short, the Director of EMS was relived of his duties as of last Thursday, 5 PM The details surrounding are simple. He/They made a poor choice some time ago and now it has caught up with them.
Left in Poor Condition
Sadly, MM is in shambles. Employee moral is low, First Responder opinions are low and some Pt. Care is low. It almost seems hopeless.
It gets interesting
So, after much discussion and prayer, I accepted the position that was offered, to become the next Director of Mitchell Medics. For clarity, I have been named the interim, but has the owner says, "It is mine to lose or keep". I am scared out of my mind. The service has low ratings in every category. There is much to do, and I will be adding to this story.

Dogs & Haircuts

The boys had to get a haircut...

It's been a little busy these last few days, but the dogs had to get buzzed again. We are not happy. So, TC bought her own sheers and trimmed Brody and he looks much better. I love when we have time to let them spend more time outside. That is all
