Babies and Trucks
So this pic is not really public, per say. This little bright and shining star was born in the back of an ambulance here in my town. Dispatch said to meet them at the Dollar General. I called back to say, come to the Fire Dept. When they arrived, the Mom was not feeling like she needed to push, but that changed quickly. A dear friend and medic arrived so I had her check for crowning. So far so good, that changed quickly. The ambulance arrived, although we had everything we needed. The stretcher was downloaded, and from the van i picked this young lady up from the front seat and carried her to the stretcher. why, not sure? I was gonna drive the ambulance in but that changed quickly. When I opened the back doors, this precious baby was ready to come. I tried to remember all I needed to do, and it mostly remembered. I did what I did, did some suctioning and saw the eye lid flicker. I continued and I heard a light cry. Delivery was completed, WOW, and another medic clamped the cord and made the cut. I handed the baby to another medic and we initiated blow by O2. Now, the next day, I stopped at the hospital and asked if I could see the baby and the mom said yes. Of course she is beautiful. This was my first delivery and I will never forget it.
I started doing some part time hours as a Community Paramedic and I am loving that. It is a different angle to paramedicine. I like spending some time with patients and not on a 911 call.
Just took a pic of the truck with a Full Moon.
