Floors and Knees

These are the floors that were in when we bought the house. Recently, we had replaced the ones in the living room and hall along with the bathroom, so now the dining room. I will say this, this stuff has held up well.

Down to the hardwoods that are in too bad of shape to refinish. Bummer

I laid the moisture barrier down and got started from the closet.

And here is the finished project. I was pretty excited that I was able to do this in a single day, keeping in mind, that I had just worked a 24 hours shift, with about 5 to 6hours of interrupted sleep. Just one more trip to the hardware store to finish the end trim to the kitchen tile, and this room will be finished.

That being said, I am not sure how much my knees can take. Even with the knee pads, they are so sore, not mention my back. This stuff is hard on the body, but well worth it and I have saved thousands doing a lot of this myself.

Training and Treats

Some training and a nice view out our bay doors at Mitchell Medics.

TC made homemade Peanut Brittle. It is now all gone!!!!! Some of the best I have ever had.

I worked a Shift over at Ashe Medics, and just took some pics of the trip, there and back. 1st pic is 421 South coming from Boone to Deep gap

All of these pics are from the Blue Ridge Parkway, which I decided to travel all the way from Deep Gap to Spruce Pine. It was very nice.

Dinner and Demands

Unfortunately, we had to fly out another PT from a motorcycle accident up on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Ledger Fire Dept, whom we have a wonderful relationship with, invited us down to eat with them during their Fall Festival.

Walking Bailey in the morning

C0-Worker Marie fixed a wonderful Sunday Dinner

Our 3 day stretch was pretty tough. 2 flights, numerous calls and one Cardiac Arrest. Good news is that we did get ROSC, Return of Spontaneous Circulation, meaning we got a heart beat. I pray that it is all in God's Hands!!! That's all we really can do is to pray for God's Will.
I came home last night exhausted as we just had to leave. We were hours past normal shift and some neighboring counties had to give some assistance.

Aging Pains & Decisions

Picture from inside Medic 54 as we render aid to a Stroke victim. As they say, Time is Brain!!!

Yesterday was a pretty tough day. Not really work related, but just overall. I am feeling my age, and while I am still young to many, I can feel my body changing. I hurt more! It takes longer to recover! My strength is wavering. It is scary. I have never been limited by own health really, to do anything I wanted. New and different times for sure

In other news, we decided to attempt to purchase a van or 7 passenger vehicle to help Christie and David out..

Parts and Floors and Stencils

The Living room floor is now finished, well except a few pieced that have moved from the very beginning. It is possible that I may have to remove some of them, we will see. I also need to finish some trim work as well, then its off to the ding room.

Below you will see out in the yard playing with her stencils. She quite the creative mind. Yesterday it got back up in the 50's so that was good.

A few pics of the Jeep, or at least some new parts. A new carburetor, distributor and shaft with new ignition parts and of course a new radiator. She is running pretty good now. We went ahead and put the hard top back on. That is all, I'm back to my 3 days in a row that I must work. Long days indeed, and when I get home, I just don't feel like doing anything else.

Birthday Girl

Today, TC turned 59. After working on the floors, we went riding and then to Outback in Blowing Rock. It was a good day!!!

Views and Floors

Sitting at 226 and 19 waiting on my partner to return something that I had gone home with the night before, that, of course, I should not have. It was a tough day for sure. Mission Transport, then, a fellow decided that he would rather die than go back to jail. So, he decides to cut his own throat when the police tear gassed his TRL. So, he goes to Mission too.

Starting day two on the floors

So close to finishing, but had to stop and go else where. Hoping to get them done on Thursday

The starting of the floors

Well, it is a start. Actually I got half of the living room done, but it was only in the later half that I finally got the hang of it. There really is a science to it. I may have to redo some of the early work, but hopefully can get finished next week. Between work and dong an old friends funeral, I have ran out of time. Ann Lockamy was a special person to me and a memory from my Shady Brook days. Tomorrow, I will work at Ashe for 12 hours.

Contrast & Community

Contrast

There is a difference. Of course I am speaking of trucks, but also life in general. I find myself having a hard time of letting go to Ashe County. Of course that certain truck comes from Watauga, but it represents Ashe with the teal stripe. It is getting easier, but I sure miss all my friends. To be fair, we are loving Mitchell County, and it is as beautiful as Ashe, but its the people. However, I am getting there. I know it will take some more time. I like out little community, and we hope to get to know more of our neighbors in the coming months.

After a week of a lot of hours, I now have 2 full days off. It my hope that I finish much of the floors in the hall and living room. So, I'm finished with my coffee, have listened to the theme from Gran Torino, many times, and now its time to get this day going.

What a great movie that speaks a lot about Contrast and Community.

Partners

So, in making the transition from 24 hour shifts, to 12 hour sifts, comes with a new partner. My last partner, sonny, was really good, although I did not think it would be when we first started. Now, my Pard, is Tristin. A young married man, he had been a Medic for around 5 years and he is really smart. I enjoy working with him so far. His Dad is also a Pastor.

Last shift we transported a 82 yom in respiratory distress to Mission, then a possible Stroke from Bakersville to Blue Ridge. Not a stroke, but probably some sort of metabolism issues.

Funny thing, we have 4 trucks and 2 of them are in the shop. We need three, so we are borrowing from Watauga County and will use that rig until one of ours comes back.
